The SS American Victory, a Victory ship, served briefly in the Pacific Theater of Operations toward the end of World War II, during the Korean War from 1951 to 1954, and in the Vietnam War from 1966 to 1969. Constructed in June 1945, it transported ammunition and various cargo from Los Angeles to Southeast Asia, later returning with cargo, equipment, and troops to the United States post-war. Enduring two typhoons and a hurricane, it demonstrated remarkable resilience.

Between 1946 and 1966, the American Victory was chartered to commercial carriers for some periods and spent others in U.S. reserve fleets. During the Vietnam War, from 1966 to 1969, it was deployed to deliver cargo to Southeast Asia, following which it returned to reserve status for three decades.
