The MS Pacific is a cruise ship owned and operated by Viagens CVC, based in Brazil, from 2002 to 2013. It was built for Flagship Cruises in 1971 by Nordseewerke company in Emden, West Germany, and named the Sea Venture. From 1975 to 2002, the ship was owned by Princess Cruises under the name Pacific Princess.
The MS Pacific has a length of 168.8 meters (554 ft), with a width of 24.7 meters (81 ft), and was constructed at Nordseewerke, West Germany. It is powered by four Fiat Diesel engines with a combined output of 18,000 shaft horsepower. The engines are individually clutched and drive pairs of controllable-pitch propellers on each of the two propeller shafts. This allows one or more engines to be shut down and started as required. As the Pacific Princess, its gross tonnage is 20,636 GT, carrying 646 passengers at a maximum speed of 21.5 knots (39.8 km/h; 24.7 mph), cruising at a speed of 20 knots (37 km/h; 23 mph). As the Pacific, its capacity is increased to 780 passengers, and the cruising speed reduced to 18 knots. It is registered in the Bahamas.
