D/S OSTER was a cruise ship that operated along the coast of Norway from the late 19th century to the 20th century. OSTER was built in 1908 at Christiansands Mek. Værksted (in Kristiansand, southern Norway). The ship was 106.1 feet long, 21.7 feet wide, and could carry 265 passengers. It operated in Bergen for many years. This was the largest ship connecting the northern part of Hordaland with the city of Bergen.

The ship was also constructed as an icebreaker because the fjords in this area would always freeze in the winter, isolating the residents. In 1915, it was extended to a length of 118.6 feet, with its passenger capacity increased to 312 people.
