MS Freedom of the Seas is a cruise ship operated by Royal Caribbean International. She is the namesake of Royal Caribbean’s Freedom class and can accommodate 3,634 passengers and 1,300 crew members across 15 passenger decks. The ship also has 4 crew decks below the waterline. Freedom of the Seas was the largest passenger ship ever built (in terms of gross tonnage) from 2006 until the sister ship, Liberty of the Seas, was constructed in 2007.
Freedom of the Seas was built at the Aker Yards shipyard in Turku, Finland, where the Voyager-class ships and other Freedom-class ships were also constructed. Upon completion in 2006, it became the largest passenger ship ever built, taking that honor from Queen Mary 2 (QM2), an ocean liner.
