Sunflower Sapporo is a ferry belonging to Japan’s MOL Ferry company. It was constructed from March to September 1998 at the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries shipyard in Shimonoseki for the Higashi Nihon Ferry company, and it was initially named Varuna. Entering service in October 1998 on routes connecting Honshū with Hokkaidō via the Sea of Japan, it was eventually transferred to the Pacific routes in 2000.
