HMAS Perth D38 Destroyer served as the flagship of the Perth-class guided missile destroyers within the Royal Australian Navy (RAN). Manufactured in the United States based on a modified rendition of the Charles F. Adams blueprint, Perth commenced its operational tenure with the RAN in 1965.
Throughout its service, the destroyer undertook three missions to the Vietnam War, garnering a distinguished RAN battle accolade and two commendations from the United States Navy for its contributions. Predominantly, the vessel’s duties encompassed training maneuvers and diplomatic voyages to various nations, including a notable deployment to the Mediterranean region. In 1999, Perth was decommissioned and subsequently repurposed as a dive wreck, submerged off the Western Australian coastline in 2001
