HMAS Sydney FFG 03 was an Adelaide-class guided-missile frigate belonging to the Royal Australian Navy (RAN). It was among six modified Oliver Hazard Perry-class frigates ordered from 1977 onwards, and the third of four to be built in the United States of America. The vessel’s construction commenced in 1980, with its launch following suit. Sydney was christened after the capital city of New South Wales and officially entered service with the RAN in 1983.
