Kanrin Maru (咸臨丸) was the first screw-driven steam warship of Japan, equipped with both sails and a propeller. She was ordered in 1853 from the Netherlands. The ship was constructed by Fop Smit in Kinderdijk, Netherlands, later known as L. Smit en Zoon.
