The Emma Maersk was once the world’s largest container ship (in 2007) owned by A.P. Moller-Maersk Group, with a capacity of 11,000 TEU. The ship was named after the late wife of the chairman of the group, Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller, and was put into service on September 8, 2006. (Previously, the company had 8 other ships with the same name, Emma Maersk, most of which have been scrapped or renamed by now). However, according to an agreement between A.P. Moller-Maersk Group and the Odense Steel Shipyard, the Shipyard is currently building 7 more ships of the same type, potentially larger than the Emma Maersk
