In 1994, Miss Severn was completed based on plans crafted by John Hacker in 1922 to comply with the new regulations for Gold Cup racing. Originally known as Arab VI, the boat participated in the 1922 Gold Cup races, finishing second to Packard Chris Craft. Arab VI continued racing in the Gold Cup class until it was purchased by Edgar Dobson of Annapolis, MD. After a year of racing with little success powered by a Hispano Suiza engine, Dobson decided to re-power and rename the boat Miss Severn, equipping it with a Curtis Conqueror V12 aero engine and reclassifying it to K class (Unlimited Runabout). Under this new configuration, Miss Severn achieved numerous victories in K class races in Maryland, including wins at Baltimore, Chester, Havre de Grace, and ST. Michaels, where Dobson set a new world speed record for K class.
