The Norwegian Dawn is operated by Norwegian Cruise Line. The ship was completed on December 4, 2002, at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany, and made its inaugural voyage to Europe on December 7, 2002. It was originally intended to operate under Star Cruises as the SuperStar Scorpio, but it was decided that the ship would be transferred to Star’s subsidiary, Norwegian Cruise Line, under the name Norwegian Dawn. The Norwegian Dawn was christened on December 16, 2002, in an elaborate ceremony in Manhattan conducted by actress Kim Cattrall.
Norwegian Dawn is the first NCL ship to feature hull artwork. Planned as a way to promote the ship, this idea was warmly received, and the hull art has been incorporated into most other NCL ships, except those scheduled to leave the fleet in the coming years.
Refund Eligibility
