This vessel is a ‘karv’ type ship, built using the clinker method, made almost entirely from oak wood. It measures 22 meters in length and 5 meters in width, with a mast approximately 9 to 10 meters tall. Equipped with a sail of around 90 square meters, the ship could reach speeds of up to 10 knots.

It features 15 pairs of oar holes, allowing 30 people to row. Add fittings include a large steering oar, an iron anchor, a gangplank and shield mounts.

Both the bow and stern are ornately decorated with elaborate wooden carvings in the signature “gripping beast” style, also known as the Oseberg style.
